Delta® Zinc Flake Coating is 7 Times Thinner Than Hot-Dip Galvanizing and Unmatched in Corrosion Res
When you need a coating that withstands both heat and cold, Delta® zinc flake coating is an excellent choice by many measures. This exceptionally durable coating offers UV protection and tolerates temperatures up to 180 degrees (Celsius). Thanks to its corrosion resistance and low friction coefficient, screws and bolts coated with Delta® can be easily loosened. The high reliability of the coating allows for extensive use across various industries, from renewable energy to construction, technology, and land and marine transportation.
"Zinc flake coating does not cause hydrogen embrittlement, and its film thickness can be precisely adjusted between 1 and 20 micrometers. Delta is up to seven times thinner than hot-dip galvanizing," says Juha Autio, Production Manager at Polttoväri.
Among the three coating methods – centrifuging, dip, and spray – the most suitable is selected based on the component's size and geometry. The coating also offers a variety of colours, including black, red, and silver. See additional colour options below:
The Delta® coating range includes numerous colour options.

Quality Ensured Through Continuous Measurements and Decades of Experience
At Polttoväri, quality management means daily actions to ensure a uniform and durable coating surface. According to Autio, a key aspect of quality management is also expertise in the pre-treatment methods required for the coated component. With decades of experience, Polttoväri can select the most suitable pre-treatment method – chemical, mechanical, or a combination of both.
Daily quality control measurements are performed at the factory:
"We monitor several critical factors at our factory, such as coating thickness and solid content. These daily measurements ensure consistent coating quality for every product," clarifies Hannu Kotimäki, CEO of Polttoväri.
Additionally, salt spray tests are part of Polttoväri's quality management routine. In the so-called 365-method, products are exposed to salt spray in controlled conditions within a salt spray chamber. This method simulates corrosion-inducing environments such as marine climates or industrial settings, assessing the coating's long-term corrosion resistance.
"We regularly conduct process-related inspections. Furthermore, an essential part of our quality management process is the audits performed at our factory by the German company Dörken," adds Kotimäki.
According to Kotimäki, Polttoväri is the only surface treatment facility in Finland offering Dörken-manufactured Delta® coatings as a subcontracted service. The demand has also increased internationally, particularly in recent times:
"We are now a highly international operator, as we receive products for coating from abroad. Our products also move easily to neighboring countries, where Polttoväri can deliver both small and large coating batches on a fast schedule," concludes Kotimäki.
All Delta MKS® zinc flake coatings are meticulously applied in accordance with the standards SFS-EN ISO 10683 and SFS-EN 13858.
